Inizio da capo, dopo la fine....

Rieccomi qua,dopo un po di tempo lontano dal mio blog,tutto dedicato a queer as folk.....il mitico queer as folk....un mese fa,purtroppo,ho visto l'ultima puntata dell'ultima serie....ebbene si,e' finito...dopo ben 83 puntate,viste per circa un anno,ho scoperto come tutto quellintrigo e quella bomba di emozioni va a finire.....beh che dire,un bel finale, speravo in un gran colpo di scena,ma alla fine meglio cosi'.....anche se nn ci sara' un seguito, e' finito in modo che un seguito lo si possa creare,anche se tutti i suoi fan sanno per certo che un seguito nn ci sara'.....bene,a questo punto,da oggi,tempo permettendo,mi occupero' non solo di questo magnifico telefilm che ha scaturito in me la voglia di dichiarare al mondo la mia omosessualita', ma anche di tutto cio' che il mondo gaio ci riserva, di ingiustizie, discriminazioni, ma anche gioie e lieto fine....certo,nessuno ancora e' prensente in questo blog,apparte due lettori,ma spero di ampliare il cerchio,e di coinvolgere piu' persone possibili....perche', gay e' bello!!!!!!

The show drew strong ratings for both Showtime and Canada's Showcase. In fact, in Canada, the series had such high ratings that by the end of the fifth season Showcase chose to air the show in hour-and-ten-minute timeblocks to accommodate all the ads without cutting any scenes. This was not a problem for Showtime, since that service is commercial-free and no ads were ever broadcast during a QAF telecast.
Queer as Folk is an American and Canadian television series co-production, produced by Showtime and Temple Street Productions, which was based on the British series of the same name, created by Russell T Davies. The North American version of Queer as Folk was developed by Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman, who were also the writers and executive producers, along with Tony Jonas, former President of Warner Bros. Television. The series employed various Canadian directors known for their independent film work (including Bruce McDonald, David Wellington, Kelly Makin, John Greyson, Jeremy Podeswa and Michael DeCarlo) as well as famed Australian director Russell Mulcahy (Highlander) who directed the pilot episode. Additional writers in the later seasons included Michael MacLennan, Efrem Seeger, Brad Fraser, Del Shores, and Shawn Postoff.

Queer as Folk è una serie televisiva prodotta nel 2000 da Showtime e Temple Street Productions per gli USA ed il Canada; e si basa sulla serie inglese Queer as Folk creata da Russell T. Davies.
Il titolo della serie nasce da un'espressione dialettale di alcune zone del nord dell'Inghilterra: «there's nought so queer as folk», che significa "non c'è nulla di così strano come la gente"; dove la parola "queer" in Inglese significa, oltre che "strano", anche "omosessuale".
Queer as Folk è la storia di cinque uomini gay che vivono a Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania (Brian, Justin, Michael, Emmett e Ted), ed una coppia lesbica (Lindsay e Melanie). È stato aggiunto nella seconda stagione anche un altro personaggio maschile, Ben. La versione USA è stata girata in Canada: molte scene esterne nella chiesa di Toronto e nel Wellesley gay village. La serie Usa-Canada include per motivi d'ascolto numerose scene di sesso ed enfatizza di più l'aspetto sessuale rispetto alla serie originale

The series ran for five seasons (2000 to 2005 on Showtime and 2001 to 2005 on Showcase).
Canada's Showcase, which was making a great deal of money from the advertising demand, did briefly consider producing a sixth season, but as Showtime owned much of the rights to the series and funded much of the budget, Showcase decided against it.
Another U.S. cable channel owned by Viacom, Logo, began broadcasting edited, commercially sponsored episodes of QAF on September 21, 2006.
As of January 9, 2008, Showcase began offering the Canadian version of the Queer as Folk episodes on their website. These Canadian versions differ from the Showtime and DVD versions in that they have breaks within the episodes (where commercials would have been inserted) and make references to "Showcase" and "Temple Street Productions presents" instead of "Showtime presents". Unlike the Season 1 DVDs, episodes 101 and 102 are presented separately and episode 102 is the rare extended version of the episode, created for broadcast during reruns of the first season and not seen since 2002. The first seven episodes were posted on January 9 and one additional episode was posted each week after.

Questa versione USA di Queer as Folk ha avuto vari registi canadesi noti per i loro lavori indipendenti (Bruce McDonald, David Wellington, Kelly Makin, Jeremy Podeswa e Michael De Carlo per citarne alcuni) così come il famoso regista australiano Russell Mulcahy (Highlander - L'ultimo immortale) che ha diretto l'episodio pilota.

La serie Queer as Folk è ambientata nella città di Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) che è stata scelta per essere la più simile a Manchester e rappresentata anche in modo molto creativo: dal momento che Pittsburgh non ha una comunità gay così grande come San Francisco o New York, la maggior parte di tutte le scene sulla Liberty Avenue sono state filmate a Toronto. Infatti nessuna scena della vera Liberty Avenue è stata usata nella serie. Toronto è stata scelta come centro direttivo della serie per i suoi bassi costi di produzione e per l'affidabilità della sua industria televisiva e cinematografica. E come capita, il gay village di Toronto aveva l'aspetto che serviva ai produttori per rendere viva Liberty Avenue.
Inizialmente la maggior parte degli attori mantenne ambiguo il suo orientamento sessuale alla stampa in modo tale da non sminuire il proprio personaggio, provocando molte congetture tra i telespettatori. In seguito, Randy Harrison (Justin) , Peter Paige (Emmett), Robert Gant (Ben) e Jack Weatherall (Vic) hanno affermato di essere gay, mentre il resto del cast ha dichiarato di essere eterosessuale o ha evitato il pubblico dibattito sul proprio orientamento sessuale
